Woodbury Library to Open Again on Sundays

The R.H. Stafford Library in Woodbury was closed on Sundays over the summer.

As planned, the Woodbury library will reopen on Sundays, starting Sept. 8.

After cutting back on hours as part of a cost-saving measure, Washington County restored Sunday hours in 2013, aside from June through Labor Day.

The R.H. Stafford Library will be open from 1-5 p.m. on Sundays until May 25, 2014.

Come 2014, Washington County Library hopes to add hours elsewhere, and has submitted a request to have the Cottage Grove and Forest Lake branches open on Sundays, according to the Pioneer Press.

“We are definitely on an upswing,” Washington County Library director Pat Conley told the newspaper. “Circulation has increased almost 10 percent this year alone. People are using the library again very aggressively. Saturday is our busiest day and Sunday is right after. It’s four hours, but four hours that are heavily used. Thus, we have requested the county board fund us to be open Sunday during the school year at the other two locations.”
