Brief: School Board Candidate Filing Information

Three seats will be up for election on the District 833 School Board this fall.

South Washington County residents looking to run in the November District 833 School Board election must file a notarized affidavit of candidacy between Tuesday, Aug. 2 and Thursday, Aug. 16.

On Nov. 8, the district will conduct a school board election.

The community will determine who will fill the three positions currently held by Leslee Boyd (Woodbury), Jim Gelbmann (Woodbury) and Ron Kath (Cottage Grove).

Each of the positions is a four-year term that runs from Jan. 1, 2012, through Dec. 31, 2015.

Candidates must be eligible voters and at least 21 years of age by Jan. 1, 2012. Candidates also must be residents of the school district for at least 30 days prior to the election.

Packets containing information about becoming a school board member, affidavit of candidacy, campaign manual from the Minnesota Secretary of State, and candidate filing information from the school district will be available to interested individuals beginning Aug. 2.

Candidates may pick up the packets and also file at the District Service Center, 7362 E. Point Douglas Road in Cottage Grove, weekdays between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. The final deadline for filing will be Tuesday, Aug. 16, at 5 p.m. at the service center. There is a $2 filing fee (cash only).
