Woodbury’s New Life Breaks Ground on New Facility

Students braved the chill with shovels Monday morning, marking the beginning of construction on a new two-story, 22,000-square-foot building.

Three straight days of events at New Life Church and Academy culminated Monday morning as the school celebrated the groundbreaking of a new facility.

The church held its own ceremony Sunday as plans to construct a new are moving forward.

The $5 million multipurpose center—which will house classrooms and meeting space—is part of a $6 million capital campaign that includes updates for the existing facility.

The new building will be constructed in the flagpole area and circle turnaround, “which we try to keep people out of anyway,” said Cade Lambert, head of school at New Life Academy.

Already, $4.1 million has been raised, he said, and an auction was held Saturday night as funds continue to be raised. The new center is the first phase of the plans, with updates to the existing buildings coming next.

“It’s kind of an exciting time,” Lambert told Patch on Monday morning.

The Woodbury school saw more than 5 percent growth last year, and is projecting more students again next year, he said.

“Our families are very much behind our mission,” Lambert said.

The new building will connect with the entrance to the existing structure. No parking will be lost, though some spots may be taken away temporarily for staging as the work moves along, Lambert said.
